Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by a number of officials, toured the pavilions of the National Postal Authority (Egypt Post), the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), and Telecom Egypt during his visit to the Cairo International Technology Exhibition and Conference for the Middle East and Africa (Cairo ICT 2026).
Egypt Post Showcases New Digital and Financial Services
During his visit to Egypt Post’s pavilion, Dalia El-Baz, Chairperson of the National Postal Authority, presented the organization’s latest technological solutions and services aimed at accelerating digital transformation, promoting financial inclusion, and facilitating citizens’ access to government, financial, and postal services.
The presentation highlighted an integrated service ecosystem combining technological innovation, ease of use, and security.
El-Baz introduced “Baridi”, a next-generation digital correspondence service designed as an electronic alternative to traditional registered mail and registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt.
The service enables individuals and organizations to send and receive official correspondence and documents electronically, while verifying the identities of both senders and recipients and documenting the exact dates and times of sending and receipt.
It also provides reliable digital proof of delivery and safeguards correspondence and attachments against tampering or unauthorized modification.
By reducing processing times and administrative procedures, Baridi minimizes reliance on paper-based documentation while maintaining the legal validity of electronic correspondence, making official transactions more convenient for individuals, businesses, and government entities.
El-Baz also reviewed the additional features and services available through the Easy Pay mobile application, which provides users with a comprehensive range of digital financial services.
She highlighted developments in Waselha, Egypt Post’s shipping, delivery, and e-commerce logistics service, which leverages advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and geographic information systems (GIS), to improve shipment management, tracking, and delivery efficiency.
The presentation also featured the launch of Visa Plus as part of Egypt Post’s efforts to strengthen the digital payments ecosystem and expand access to electronic financial services.
In addition, the Prime Minister reviewed the advanced technical and technological capabilities of Egypt Post’s printing facilities.
NTRA Highlights Digital Safety and Telecommunications Infrastructure Initiatives
Madbouly’s tour also included a visit to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s pavilion, where Eng. Mohamed Shamroukh, NTRA Chief Executive Officer, presented the Authority’s key achievements and services over the past period.
These initiatives include the launch of online child protection services through the “Etma’en” and “Etma’en Ala El Akhar” platforms, designed to help protect children from internet-related risks.
Shamroukh also highlighted the mobile SIM card and mobile wallet governance system, which represents an application of the unified digital identity framework, alongside the electronic auction system for allocating premium mobile numbers.
Other initiatives include upgrading telecommunications infrastructure in smart and sustainable cities and communities in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as well as developing the radio frequency spectrum monitoring system.
The NTRA CEO outlined several major initiatives scheduled for launch next year, including the National Cybersecurity Operations Center, planned for the first quarter of 2027, and the Network Emergency Center, scheduled to open during the first half of 2027 at Knowledge City in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
Telecom Egypt Reviews International Connectivity and Data Center Expansion
The Prime Minister also visited Telecom Egypt’s pavilion, where he attended a presentation delivered by Eng. Tamer El Mahdi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
The presentation highlighted Telecom Egypt’s efforts to upgrade its domestic and international telecommunications infrastructure, expand its submarine cable network, and strengthen its data center capabilities in line with international standards.
These investments aim to attract major global companies to use Telecom Egypt’s data centers and international network infrastructure to operate their digital platforms and facilitate global data exchange.
The company’s expanding infrastructure is also expected to reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional and international hub for data traffic and digital connectivity.
The presentation further outlined Telecom Egypt’s plans to expand fiber-optic networks to homes, improve internet services, and introduce integrated digital solutions powered by artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
These solutions are designed to accelerate digital transformation across vital sectors, particularly education and healthcare.
The participation of Egypt Post, the NTRA, and Telecom Egypt at Cairo ICT 2026 reflects Egypt’s broader strategy to modernize its digital infrastructure, expand financial inclusion, strengthen cybersecurity, and position the country as a leading regional center for telecommunications and data services.
