Egypt Launches Pilot Operation of Investor Services Self-Service Kiosks at Cairo ICT 2026

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the 30th edition of the Cairo International Technology Exhibition and Conference for the Middle East and Africa (Cairo ICT 2026) on Saturday, where Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, announced the pilot launch of self-service kiosks for investor services.

The new kiosks are designed to enable investors to obtain a range of official documents and services independently through simplified electronic procedures, without requiring direct human intervention.

Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), explained that the self-service kiosks can issue several essential investment documents, including certified copies of articles of incorporation, certificates of incorporation, and establishment documents for sole proprietorships.

The service will be available around the clock, offering investors greater flexibility and reducing their dependence on traditional working hours and physical service locations.

Digital Identity Verification Enhances Investor Services

The kiosks go beyond document issuance and printing, relying on an integrated electronic identity verification system to authenticate investors before delivering services.

For Egyptian citizens, identity verification is conducted using the national ID card, while foreign investors can authenticate their identities electronically through their passports.

The system supports automated passport data reading and verification, matching identity documents with biometric authentication technologies, including facial recognition.

Awad added that GAFI plans to gradually expand the deployment of self-service kiosks across investor service centers and other investment-related entities, providing investors with multiple channels for obtaining official documents.

Investors will be able to collect their documents from the nearest of GAFI’s 15 investor service centers nationwide or through the new self-service kiosks.

5,200 Monthly Transactions to Be Processed Through the New System

According to Awad, the investor service centers currently handle an average of approximately 5,200 transactions per month that will also be available through the new kiosks.

These transactions account for around 23% of the total volume of services provided by investor service centers, highlighting the potential of the new system to save investors considerable time and effort while improving operational efficiency.

The electronic verification system also enables additional checks with relevant authorities, covering anti-money laundering requirements and applicable national and international security watchlists, including Interpol databases, further strengthening the reliability and security of investor services.

Home Delivery Service for Investor Documents

In parallel, GAFI is preparing to introduce a document delivery service in cooperation with Egypt Post under a joint cooperation protocol.

The service will allow investors to request delivery of their official documents directly to their designated addresses without visiting investor service centers. Delivery is expected to take place on the same business day.

Awad stressed that the Authority is continuing to implement its digital transformation strategy, with the objective of meeting international best practices in terms of service delivery times and the number of procedures required to complete investor transactions.
