Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy Commence Construction of the Nefer Minya Solar and Battery Storage Project in Egypt

Infinity Power, the largest African pure-play renewable energy provider, and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy, the renewable energy investment vehicle established by Hassan Allam Utilities, have signed the Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the Nefer Minya Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Project in West Minya, Egypt. The milestone marks the start of full-scope EPC construction on one of the country’s largest renewable energy developments.

The project comprises 1.2 GWp of solar photovoltaic capacity coupled with a 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Designed primarily as a load-shifting facility, the system will capture peak daytime solar generation, store it, and dispatch clean power during evening peak-demand periods. It will also enhance grid stability and optimize the integration of renewable energy into Egypt’s electricity network.

Following the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in November 2025 and the launch of early construction works in June, the NTP represents a major project milestone. With full-scale construction now set to commence, the project moves a significant step closer to its targeted commercial operation date of September 2027.

The project will be delivered by a joint venture between Hassan Allam Construction and Sterling & Wilson, drawing on extensive local and international expertise in executing utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Amr Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, said: “Nefer Minya represents a major step forward in the development of Egypt’s renewable energy infrastructure, combining large-scale solar generation with battery storage to deliver clean power when it is needed most. Moving into full-scale construction reflects our commitment to investing in projects that strengthen energy security, enhance grid resilience, and accelerate Egypt’s energy transition. Through Hassan Allam Utilities Energy and the delivery capabilities of Hassan Allam Construction, we continue to bring together investment and execution expertise to create long-term value for Egypt’s power sector.”

Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Co-Founder and Chairman of Infinity Power, said: “The issuance of the Notice to Proceed moves Nefer Minya Project from initial development into full-scale construction, bringing us closer to delivering a project that will have a significant impact on Egypt’s energy landscape. Combining 1.2 GWp of solar capacity with 600 MWh of battery storage will enable reliable renewable power generation at scale while supporting grid stability and energy security. This milestone also represents further progress toward Infinity Power’s ambition of achieving 10 GW of operational renewable energy capacity by 2032.”

Eng. Nayer Fouad, Co-Founder and CEO of Infinity Power, added: “The signing of the Notice to Proceed for Nefer Minya marks a defining milestone in the delivery of one of Egypt’s most significant renewable energy projects. Beyond its scale, Nefer Minya Project demonstrates how integrated solar and battery storage solutions can play a transformative role in building a more secure, sustainable, and resilient energy future for the country.”

Omar Hosny, Chief Development Officer of Energy and Water, Hassan Allam Utilities said: “The integration of 1.2 GWp of solar capacity with 600 MWh of battery storage demonstrates the growing role of integrated renewable energy solutions in improving grid flexibility and maximizing the value of clean power. Nefer Minya reflects the scale and ambition of our renewable energy platform and our focus on developing projects that support a more reliable and future-ready energy system.”

Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 1,419,237 homes annually and avoid around 1,593,600 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. By combining large-scale solar generation with battery storage technology, the Nefer Minya Project will help improve grid flexibility, strengthen energy security, and support Egypt’s long-term decarbonization objectives.
