Shell Lubricants Egypt (SLE) has signed a cooperation agreement with MANDREAM, the sole authorized importer and distributor of BYD vehicles in Egypt, to supply specialized oils and fluids for BYD vehicles in Egypt, including new energy vehicles (NEVs). The agreement represents a strategic milestone for SLE, enabling it to apply its global lubricant expertise to the advanced technologies shaping the future of passenger cars.
The partnership brings together Shell’s advanced technological expertise as the world’s number one lubricants supplier for 20 years and BYD’s global leadership in new energy vehicles. With technology, quality and performance at its core, the collaboration aims to provide consumers in Egypt with advanced oils and fluids that meet their vehicles’ operating needs and keep pace with evolving vehicle technologies.
Eng. Haytham Yehia, Cluster General Manager for the Middle East, Egypt and Central Asia of Shell Lubricants, and Chairman and CEO of Shell Lubricants Egypt, said: “This partnership brings together Shell’s global expertise in lubricants and BYD’s leadership in new energy vehicles. The agreement extends Shell’s presence in the NEV market through the supply of specialized oils and fluids that meet BYD vehicles’ evolving technical requirements. This category includes plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. While these Vehicles differ in their operating technologies and technical requirements, specialized oils and fluids remain important to their operation and long-term maintenance.
Khaled Youssef, MANDREAM CEO, said: “We believe in the importance of building strategic partnerships with leading international companies to support our expansion plans and enhance the value we deliver to our customers. Our partnership with Shell Lubricants Egypt builds on this approach, bringing us together with a partner that offers global expertise and advanced technological solutions. This supports our vision for an integrated after-sales service network, helps us keep pace with the rapid development of Egypt’s electric and hybrid vehicle sector, and supports the continued expansion of our network of technology centres.”
Shell continues to strengthen its position as Egypt’s number one passenger car motor oil supplier through sustained investment in research and development and the application of its global expertise to local motorists’ needs. The agreement with MANDREAM creates new opportunities to apply this expertise in the new energy vehicle segment, aligning Shell’s experience in engine protection and lubricant performance with these vehicles’ technical requirements.
The agreement builds on SLE’s established relationships across the automotive sector. More than 25 automotive brands recommend Shell oils across different vehicle categories, and the company works with some of Egypt’s leading automotive companies and their dealers. With BYD joining its partner network, Shell continues to strengthen its leadership and expand its range of specialized oils and fluids to meet the needs of a new generation of vehicles on Egyptian roads.
