The MoU and partnership outline how the digital products and solutions provided by Thales International and the Egyptian company Cyshield will be integrated and coordinated, in accordance with international standards, to deliver secure, seamless and scalable joint solutions aimed at securing numerous national projects and future digital transformation initiatives across key markets in the Middle East and Africa.
The Memorandum of Understanding covers two strategic projects. The first project focuses on modernizing the digital solutions offered by both companies in the field of Egyptian border management, including infrastructure development, the deployment of biometric technologies, new electronic gates for passenger entry and exit, back-end systems for ports management, and front-end applications that connect the country’s air, land and sea ports through an integrated solution.
This project supports Egypt’s wider efforts to modernize its tourism infrastructure and enhance the capacity of its ports, as part of its drive to achieve its target of welcoming 30 million tourists by 2030. The project will also enhance border intelligence, enabling the authorities to better assess potential risks and prevent security threats across more than 32 border points.
The second project involves modernizing the digital solutions shared by the two companies in the field of issuing e-passports and recording their data within the Arab Republic of Egypt, to support the nationwide roll-out of the new e-passport. This solution will contribute to the development of a secure passport issuance system.
Dr Mustafa Issa, Chief Executive Officer of Cyshield, said: “Our partnership with Thales enables us to collaborate and integrate the digital products and solutions offered by both the global Thales Group and the Egyptian company Cyshield, thereby combining global innovation with outstanding implementation in accordance with international standards to deliver the best digital solutions to numerous key markets in the Middle East and Africa.
