EFG Hermes Launches Market Making Services on DFM

EFG Hermes UAE LLC, a subsidiary of EFG Holding and a financial entity regulated by the UAE Capital Market Authority, has launched market making and liquidity provision services on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), expanding its capital markets offering and reinforcing its role in supporting more efficient trading.

The new services are designed to enhance liquidity in DFM-listed securities, deepen order books and facilitate price discovery. By providing continuous two-sided quotations, market makers can help narrow bid-ask spreads, improve execution quality and strengthen investor confidence, contributing to a more accessible and resilient trading environment.

The launch builds on EFG Hermes UAE’s regional presence, international network and electronic trading capabilities, enabling the firm to connect UAE capital markets with global investors while supporting companies and investors across the capital-raising and trading cycle.

Khalifa Rabba, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Financial Market, welcomed EFG Hermes as a market maker, noting that its participation reflects the continued development of the market’s ecosystem and the growing importance of institutional liquidity provision.

He added that the firm’s involvement supports continuous two-sided pricing in DFM-listed securities, helping enhance liquidity, improve execution quality and reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading capital markets hub.

Ahmed Waly, Global Head of Brokerage at EFG Hermes, said the launch represents a strategic development for the firm’s platform, reflecting its commitment to improving execution quality and market efficiency for regional and international clients.

Waly highlighted the combination of advanced execution technology and EFG Hermes’ regional presence as key factors in supporting deeper markets, more effective price discovery and stronger liquidity, while contributing to the UAE’s standing as a global financial centre.

Amr ElShamy, Head of Electronic Trading and Execution Services at EFG Hermes, emphasized the importance of execution speed and system reliability in meeting market-making commitments.

He explained that the firm’s electronic trading infrastructure is designed to support continuous, high-performance two-sided pricing for both institutional and retail clients on the Dubai Financial Market.

Meanwhile, Raymond Wasef, Head of Market Making and Liquidity Provision at EFG Hermes, said the new services extend the firm’s broader brokerage and investment banking capabilities, which include research, corporate access and capital markets services.

Wasef noted that EFG Hermes leverages its international network, integrated capabilities and governance framework to connect UAE markets with international investors and support liquidity, market depth and efficient price discovery.

He added that market making forms part of the firm’s broader role in helping companies access capital and connecting investors with opportunities. Deeper and more liquid markets, he said, can attract greater participation and create a stronger market ecosystem.

Through the launch, EFG Hermes UAE aims to contribute to the continued development and efficiency of the UAE’s capital markets, while strengthening their links with international sources of capital.
