BEEAH and EKTIFA forge partnership for the sustainable management of agricultural and organic waste in Sharjah

BEEAH and the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Establishment (EKTIFA) have signed an agreement to manage waste generated by EKTIFA’s agricultural and livestock projects in Mleiha. Under the agreement, BEEAH will oversee waste collection, sorting, and transportation, helping EKTIFA manage its operations more efficiently while reducing their environmental impact.

The agreement was signed at BEEAH Headquarters in Sharjah by His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, CEO of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Establishment (EKTIFA), and Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO and Vice Chairman of BEEAH. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Sultan Alowais, Group Chief Financial Officer at EKTIFA, and Fahad Shehail, CEO – Environment at BEEAH, alongside senior representatives from both entities.

Commenting on the agreement, His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, CEO of EKTIFA, said: “As we continue to develop Sharjah’s agricultural and livestock production capabilities, we also need to ensure that our operations are managed responsibly and sustainably. This agreement with BEEAH will help us improve how we handle operational waste, make better use of resources, and reduce our environmental impact. It is an important part of our wider efforts to support Sharjah’s ambitions and the UAE’s food security objectives, while protecting natural resources for future generations.”

Highlighting the importance of the collaboration, Fahad Shehail, CEO – Environment at BEEAH, said: “We are pleased to enter this strategic agreement with EKTIFA, combining their advanced production capabilities with BEEAH’s expertise in sustainable waste management. Guided by robust frameworks and governance standards, we will integrate sustainable waste management practices within Sharjah’s agricultural and livestock industry, including strengthening collection, sorting, and transportation. This partnership reflects our ongoing efforts to support the emirate’s wider circularity objectives while underscoring the critical role of waste management in advancing resource security.”

As part of the agreement, BEEAH will take measures to prevent waste leakage and minimize odors or pollutants during collection and transportation. Waste containers will also be cleaned and disinfected regularly using environmentally approved products, in line with health, safety, and hygiene requirements.

The partnership supports wider efforts in Sharjah and the UAE to improve waste management, encourage reuse and recycling, and make better use of resources. It also reflects the pivotal role that practical waste management solutions can play in driving a more circular economy.
