Marriott International continues to invest in the future of Egypt’s hospitality sector through its Tahseen hospitality education and training programme, which has surpassed 210 graduates following the graduation of its fourth cohort. Since its launch in 2018, the programme has helped equip young Egyptians with industry-relevant skills and opportunities to build long-term careers in hospitality.
Developed in partnership with Capital University and the Professional Development Foundation, Tahseen combines academic education with practical experience in hotel operations. The programme’s latest graduation ceremony celebrated 46 graduates, reflecting Marriott International’s continued commitment to developing local talent and strengthening hospitality education in Egypt.
“Egypt remains an important market for Marriott International, and we believe that investing in local talent is essential to the long-term success of both our business and the country’s tourism industry,” said Ahmed Hozaien, Regional Vice President for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt at Marriott International. “Through Tahseen, we are helping create opportunities for young Egyptians to develop meaningful careers in hospitality. We are proud of the impact the programme has delivered since its launch and inspired by the success of its graduates both in Egypt and across the region.”
Since its inception, more than 336 students have participated in Tahseen, with 118 currently enrolled across three active cohorts. Recruitment is also underway for the programme’s eighth cohort, which is expected to welcome an additional 50 students.
Tahseen Graduates Build Careers Across the Region
Tahseen alumni have gone on to establish careers across Marriott International properties and the wider hospitality industry throughout the Middle East, demonstrating the value of combining academic learning with hands-on professional experience.
Among them is Ibrahim Reda, a graduate of the programme’s inaugural cohort, who now serves as Multi-Property Sales Executive at JW Marriott Cairo and Renaissance Cairo Mirage City. Reda credits Tahseen with laying the foundation for his professional development.
“Joining Tahseen was a turning point in my career. It gave me firsthand exposure to the hospitality industry, helped me develop practical skills, and introduced me to mentors who inspired me along the way. The experience played an important role in shaping the professional I am today,” he said.
Other alumni have progressed into specialist and supervisory roles across the region, including Mira Magdy Shehata, Learning & Development Coordinator at Sheraton Riyadh; Radwa Sherif, Demi Chef de Partie at Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel; and Farah Essam, Assistant Event Manager at The Westin Cairo Golf Resort & Spa, Katameya Dunes.
Their career progression highlights the role of structured hospitality education and practical training in preparing young professionals for opportunities across the industry.
Tahseen also contributes to Marriott International’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction, particularly its Empower Through Opportunity focus area, which aims to help individuals gain the skills and access needed to succeed.
