FPT Opens First African Office in Egypt, Strengthening Global Technology Services

FPT, the Vietnam-headquartered global technology services company, has officially launched operations in Egypt with the opening of its new office in New Cairo, marking its first office in Africa and reinforcing the country’s role as a hub for delivering advanced technology services to international markets.

The company plans to leverage Egypt’s engineering talent and established technology services ecosystem to serve clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with further expansion expected as its local operations grow.

The launch builds on the partnership between FPT and Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Global Offshoring Summit in Cairo in November 2025. The agreement provides a framework for supporting FPT’s expansion in Egypt and utilizing local talent to deliver technology services to global clients.

As part of the expansion, Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, met with FPT executives at the agency’s headquarters in Smart Village to discuss the company’s growth strategy, demand for specialized technology skills and plans to increase its Egyptian workforce.

Egypt Operations Begin with More Than 60 Engineers

FPT’s Egyptian operations began with a team of more than 60 Egyptian engineers providing software development, artificial intelligence solutions, application support and other IT services. The team currently serves clients in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, drawing on FPT’s international delivery network and experience across multiple industries.

The company also plans to expand its operations into European markets, beginning with France, positioning Egypt as a strategic base for serving customers across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Founded in Vietnam, FPT Corporation operates in more than 30 countries. The company reported revenue of USD 2.66 billion in fiscal year 2025 and employs more than 44,000 people across its core businesses. Its global customer base includes more than 1,100 clients, among them over 130 Fortune Global 500 companies.

ITIDA Highlights High-Value Technology Services

Commenting on the launch, Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, said FPT’s entry into Egypt reflects the country’s growing importance in the global technology services industry, where access to highly skilled engineering professionals is becoming increasingly critical.

He added that ITIDA is focused on attracting investments that bring more sophisticated technology activities to Egypt, strengthen local capabilities and expand the range of services delivered to international markets.

Elzaher also emphasized the importance of developing specialized expertise, including AI-enabled solutions, to increase the scope and value of technology services exported from Egypt to regional and global markets.

Mahmoud Sofrata, ITIDA’s Vice President for ICT Market Development, said FPT’s investment builds on the complementary strengths of Egypt and Vietnam in technology and engineering. He highlighted the contribution of Egyptian talent to the company’s expansion and the opportunity to increase technology service exports from Egypt.

FPT Expands Its AI and Engineering Capabilities

FPT Software Senior Executive Vice President Phuong Dang said the company’s expansion in Egypt comes at a time when artificial intelligence is reshaping how technology is developed and delivered.

He noted that businesses are increasingly seeking partners capable of combining industry expertise, innovation and consistent execution at scale. Establishing operations in Egypt brings FPT’s AI capabilities closer to regional clients and partners, creating opportunities for collaboration, stronger business relationships and sustainable growth.

FPT’s technology portfolio spans software development, AI, cloud and data solutions, embedded systems, semiconductor design and advanced engineering, including connected-car technologies and in-vehicle software.

The company has also developed an AI ecosystem encompassing its FleziPT AI platform, AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, a global workforce of more than 30,000 AI-augmented engineers, and strategic partnerships with leading AI companies.

Official Opening Ceremony in New Cairo

The opening of FPT’s Cairo office was marked by a ceremony held under the patronage of Nguyen Nam Duong, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Egypt.

Attendees included Mahmoud Sofrata and Dr. Yasser Abdel Bary of ITIDA, alongside FPT executives Phuong Dang, Kenan Homsi, Mustafa Ibrahim, Thang Nguyen and Mohamed El-Saeed, as well as representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy, ITIDA and the company.

Egypt’s Technology Exports Reach USD 5.2 Billion

FPT’s expansion builds on Egypt’s established position as an international destination for offshoring and technology services. According to the figures cited in the announcement, the sector generated USD 5.2 billion in service exports in 2025, supported by a growing network of international companies and skilled professionals delivering technology and business services to global markets.

The launch of FPT’s Egyptian operations adds to the country’s efforts to attract international technology investments, expand high-value service exports and strengthen its role in the global digital economy.
