Arab African International Bank (AAIB) is advancing its digital payments security and fraud prevention capabilities through its collaboration with IBM and TECH-HUB, as part of the Bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its risk management framework and protect its digital banking ecosystem.
The latest milestone follows the successful implementation and deployment of IBM Safer Payments, a technology platform designed to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions. Through the deployment, AAIB has achieved measurable improvements in fraud prevention, including reduced fraud-related losses, greater accuracy in identifying suspicious transactions, fewer false alerts, and improved operational efficiency.
The enhanced capabilities are enabling AAIB to strengthen its ability to identify, prevent, and respond to fraudulent activity while providing greater protection for customer transactions across its various payment channels.
As digital banking adoption continues to grow and transaction volumes increase, fraudsters are also adopting more sophisticated methods. In response, AAIB is expanding its capabilities to monitor transactions, identify emerging threats, and assess risks by leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
These capabilities allow the Bank to analyze potential risks proactively and respond more quickly and accurately, supporting more effective fraud prevention while maintaining the efficiency of its digital banking operations.
IBM Safer Payments uses advanced transaction monitoring and behavioral analytics to identify unusual patterns and suspicious activity in real time. Its intelligent models continuously learn from changing transaction behaviors, helping the Bank detect potentially fraudulent transactions and take preventive action before they affect customers or banking operations.
The solution was integrated into AAIB’s existing payments infrastructure and core banking systems by IBM, in collaboration with TECH-HUB and with support from IBM Expert Labs Services. The integration was designed to ensure seamless connectivity with the Bank’s existing technology environment while enhancing operational efficiency.
The project also introduced an advanced real-time transaction monitoring framework, strengthened fraud prevention capabilities, and established a scalable technology architecture capable of supporting AAIB’s future growth and technology initiatives.
IBM’s technology expertise, combined with TECH-HUB’s implementation capabilities, contributed to accelerating the deployment and maximizing the value of the project. The collaboration further supports AAIB’s efforts to respond to evolving fraud risks and maintain a secure and resilient digital banking environment.
The latest development reflects AAIB’s continued investment in technology and its efforts to evolve its risk management framework through a more data-driven operating model. By strengthening data-based decision-making and enhancing its digital security capabilities, the Bank aims to maintain high standards of customer service, operational efficiency, and security as the digital banking landscape continues to evolve.
