As part of its ongoing efforts to support women and advance the education sector, Tanweer Foundation for Life Skills Development has concluded its innovative teacher empowerment training program, fully funded and supported by General Motors Africa and Middle East. The collaboration reflects General Motors’ strong belief in the importance of education and the pivotal role women play in building knowledge and innovation-driven communities.
The strategic program supported three consecutive cohorts of teachers across a range of subjects, with a focus on schools implementing the national curriculum and girls’ schools. Through the teachers’ work in the classroom, the program’s direct impact reaches more than 5,000 students, helping prepare a new generation with the digital and scientific skillsets needed for a knowledge-based economy.
Developed under Tanweer Foundation’s “Empowering Teachers” initiative, the program aimed to help teachers move from traditional teaching methods toward education models grounded in technology, innovation and computational thinking. The training covered virtual laboratories, computational thinking, artificial intelligence and programming, in addition to a specialized certificate from the global WRO Learn platform of the World Robot Olympiad in leadership and innovation.
The program also included practical application of the AiDU educational artificial intelligence platform, helping reduce administrative burdens and giving teachers more time to engage with students and develop classroom learning experiences.
Beyond technical skills, the partnership also included a group mentoring session led by General Motors Africa and Middle East, focusing on communication, presentation and delivery skills. This support helped prepare the teachers to present their graduation projects to assessment panels, while equipping them with practical tools they can apply in the classroom, throughout their careers, and as they build their leadership presence within their educational communities.
